Welcome to the website for the West Bersted Framework Masterplan.

We are delighted that you have taken the time to learn more about the design, what the scheme will comprise and how you can contribute.

Land West of Bersted is allocated for development in the Arun District Council Local Plan (2018) for at least 2,500 homes,  alongside other social infrastructure - including a new primary school, community facilities, public open space, sports and retail provision.

The two largest landowners are The Church Commissioners for England and Landlink Estates and they have been working closely with Arun District Council officers, other landowners and key stakeholders to develop a Framework Masterplan for the entire site. The benefit of an overall Masterplan is that it will guide future development and demonstrate how the proposals will integrate with the existing community.

The Framework Masterplan forms the first stage in the masterplanning process. There will be further opportunities to comment and feedback on subsequent individual planning applications as they are brought forward later this year. To find out more about the community engagement programme click here.

Government guidance on Covid 19 means that we cannot hold a public exhibition, where members of the public could attend in person. As such, working with Arun District Council we have instead prepared this fully interactive website that allows you to consider the emerging proposals and provide your feedback.  There is a section on the website that you can use to send us your comments.  All the comments will be read and will be taken into consideration when finalising the Framework Masterplan before its submission to Arun District Council for final consideration.

It is intended that the Council will undertake its own consultation on the Framework Masterplan (expected August-September) before it is considered for endorsement by the Planning Policy sub-committee in Autumn 2020. Subject to restrictions being lifted, we do hope to meet with you in person later this year.

You can  watch a recorded presentation given by the project team on 23 July 2020 below. The presentation covers the Framework Masterplan proposals, with inputs from transport, drainage and landscape consultants.
